Safety Tips

Traveling can be a fun and enjoyable experience, but it's always good to take extra precautions when you're on the road.

  • Don't carry large amounts of cash and valuables. Store checks, cash and jewelry out of sight and use a hotel safe when available.
  • Use a map and plan your trip ahead of time. An Alabama map is available free from the Bureau of Tourism and Travel at all visitor information centers or by calling 1-800-ALABAMA.  When traveling by car, buckle up. It's the law in Alabama.  In case of emergency, dial 911 or *HP on a cellular phone for help in securing law enforcement, an ambulance or the fire department.
