Honest, unpolished and as real as it gets. Alabama is home to authentic folk music that is very different from that of other places that feature people playing a folk "style" of music. The pieces you'll hear at places like Livingston's Sucarnochee Revue and the Dulcimer Festival in Huntsville are pure folk music in its truest sense: a craft being handed down through the generations, keeping the art form more alive and more relevant than anything being cranked out by the corporate music machines in search of the next big thing. Native American music, bluegrass, Celtic, Latino and old time string music are just a few of the unique styles you can hear in ways you never heard before. |
