One of the biggest surprises for art lovers visiting Alabama is the vast number of high-quality theatrical venues, including the only U.S. theater invited to fly the flag of England's Royal Shakespeare Company. The Alabama Shakespeare Festival in Montgomery is the Southeast's largest regional theater and hosts more than 300 performances a year, ranging from Shakespearian dramas to modern musicals.
