Gymnastics in Alabama

It's hard not to admire the combination of grace and strength it takes to be a gymnast. It's even harder not to admire those traits when they produce four National Championships and five SEC Championships, as the University of Alabama's gymnastics program has done. Under coach Sarah Patterson, Alabama women's gymnastics has been making the state proud for decades, going to twenty-four consecutive NCAA Championships and finishing in the "final four" an NCAA-best twenty-one times.

Despite all their accomplishments, in 2005 the gymnastics program at the University of Alabama did something they had never done before. They signed an Olympic medalist. Before current Alabama gymnast Terin Humphrey ever enrolled in school, she had already won a silver medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece, and appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. And while Alabama's collegiate gymnastics program garners much of the attention, we offer gymnastics programs from the youth level on up to the high school level, and at other colleges such as Auburn University's nationally ranked gymnastics program. Still, if you want to see some of the best gymnasts in not only the country but also the world, you won't have to go much farther than Alabama.
